JD, : I said this earlier in the season and I still feel it: if Otto Lopez played for the Yankees, everyone would look at him a lot differently. Look at what he just did. He hit .305/.349/.437 with 34 stolen bases, 94 runs and 71 RBI across 687 plate appearances, good for a 115 wRC+ and nearly 6 fWAR. The average isn't a fluke either: he struck out only 13% of the time, and his .281 xBA says the contact quality supports a high average year after year. Add 28.5 ft/s sprint speed and the Marlins playing him every single day, and you have a guy who piles up at-bats and steals. What he doesn't have is power. He hit 11 home runs with a 6% barrel rate and an 89.1 mph average EV, and I don't think the power gets much better from here. He also has the unlucky mix of playing in Miami, where nobody pays attention, with a bad team around him that won't create as many run and RBI chances as he'd get on a good one. Maybe he gets moved at the deadline next year and lands somewhere that makes him more attractive. I'm well ahead of the consensus here (they have him around 100), and I'm comfortable with it. A high-average, 30-steal shortstop who never comes off the field should be one of those quietly elite players for the next couple of years. If his manager in your league sees "Marlins" and shrugs, take advantage.
