JD on Leodalis De Vries (Sep 11, 2026): Really brutal news for Leo that he will be out for 8 months with shoulder surgery. Luckily it's during the offseason and he's so young and it's not crucial that he gets a ton of reps right now. It would be nice to see him knocking on the door of the big leagues next year with a really strong spring and start to the 2027 season. I imagine this takes any hope of a 2027 debut as a 20-year-old out of the picture but still leaves the chance that he makes his 2028 debut as a 21 year old in play. I like what Sebastian Walcott has been able to do coming back from injury so I'm hopeful that Leo will take the time to develop, get stronger, and come out of this better off in the long run. Not selling if I own him here.
JD on Otto Lopez (Aug 14, 2026): Otto Lopez has been ice-cold the last 30 days, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that this is just a temporary blip rather than a true reflection of his real skill set. I'm holding steady on his ranking right now but if he continues to limp to the end of the season I'll probably have to adjust him downwards towards the lower end of the top 100 heading into 2027.
