What the staff says

JD on Randy Arozarena (Oct 27, 2026): Did Randy Arozarena just put in a career year? Look at his stats since 2021 (excluding 2020 for small sample size bias). Two things strike me here. One is that he is remarkably consistent, with six straight 20/20 seasons since 2021. He barely scrapes by every year too, which makes me think he's actually trying to hit those 2020 seasons intentionally and he always knows exactly where he stands with his stats. The second is that it feels like 2026 might be a blip rather than a trend, and he'll return to the .750- to .800-OPS player that he was historically. If he's still trying to optimize for those 20/20 seasons, he's still going to be very valuable, but I don't think I would buy into a career year thinking he is a more valuable dynasty asset than he actually is. However, this level of consistency and reliability makes him a player that is just outside of the top 50 in terms of value. I wouldn't expect him to exceed his 2026 numbers, but I think you can safely rely on him for the next couple of years as he seems to be aging more gracefully than most entering his age 32 season.

JD on Theo Gillen (Nov 5, 2026): Oh do the Rays have another top prospect to salivate over? I can't help but think that Theo Gillen should have been getting at-bats in the playoffs for the Rays, the combination of Deluca, Vilade, Williamson, and Walls feeling like automatic outs at the end of their lineup was ridiculous. Theo Gillen really took another step forward this year, hitting 22 home runs after hitting only 5 across his first two minor league seasons. That was really the one piece missing and the piece that I wasn't sure would ever develop when he was first touted as a top prospect (as I wasn't sure the power would develop). When you pair that with a .968 OPS and a double-digit walk rate, he looks like he will be a mainstay in the big leagues for years to come. I feel like Carson Benge is a pretty good comp to Gillen. I think if he gets a full season of at-bats next year, he could put together a similar standout rookie campaign. That would catapult him into (or close to) the top 25 dynasty rankings at the end of 2027 heading into 2028.
