JD on Leodalis De Vries (Sep 11, 2026): Really brutal news for Leo that he will be out for 8 months with shoulder surgery. Luckily it's during the offseason and he's so young and it's not crucial that he gets a ton of reps right now. It would be nice to see him knocking on the door of the big leagues next year with a really strong spring and start to the 2027 season. I imagine this takes any hope of a 2027 debut as a 20-year-old out of the picture but still leaves the chance that he makes his 2028 debut as a 21 year old in play. I like what Sebastian Walcott has been able to do coming back from injury so I'm hopeful that Leo will take the time to develop, get stronger, and come out of this better off in the long run. Not selling if I own him here.
JD on Sebastian Walcott (Jul 23, 2026): Walcott is back! I thought I did a good job of tempering my expectations while he was injured but now that I saw the screenshot of him with his additional 15 lbs. of muscle, I'm fully back on the Walcott train. He is off to a hot start with a 140 wRC+ in AA, and if you held onto him I think you are about to be handsomely rewarded. I mean cmon, just watch this video of his first HR of the season and tell me he is not a prospect to salivate over. https://x.com/MLBPipeline/status/2078984184215765001?s=20
