JD on Chase Burns (May 27, 2026): This is an example of someone who I haven't fully bought into this stuff yet even though his metrics are obviously off the charts. As a side note think about how crazy it is that Chase Burns averages 98 mph on his fastball and that's still two full ticks below Misiorowski's fastball average. The stuff is obviously incredible but when there's another young pitcher out there eclipsing him by two full miles per hour, he's going to have to take a backseat to him for the time being. The command is average but the stuff is exceptional and you can bet on exceptional stuff all day. The only other knock on him is that pitching at Cincinnati might lead to a little bit tougher of an offensive environment than you typically see for a player's home ballpark but not something I'm willing to adjust the rankings for.
JD on Jordan Walker (Jul 14, 2026): I thought for sure we were going to see Jordan Walker put on a display of hard ground balls up the left side during the Home Run Derby but he really surprised me and took the crown. I don't know how much longer I can be a hater without looking foolish. At this point I might be fully bought into the Jordan Walker story. My apologies to all of the Jordan Walker fans I have let down this season.
