The 2026 trade deadline passed at 6 p.m. ET on August 3, and it was a big one: 202 players changed organizations since July 1st vs 196 in 2025 and 184 in 2024. On the deadline day alone, 124 players were moved versus 123 in 2025 and only 82 in 2024.
40 of them hold a spot on the FanRanked staff dynasty board, and the table below ranks all of them in order, with the rest-of-season redraft consensus beside each so you can separate the multi-year assets from the short-term rentals. Tarik Skubal is the prize of the deadline, No. 19 on the staff dynasty board and No. 13 in redraft consensus, heading from the Detroit Tigers to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
This trade drew significant criticism across the league due to its timing and underwhelming return. A lot of people in the league think that the Tigers could've held out for a better return and had this trade as a stalking horse offer that they could've parlayed into a better deal from another organization like the Brewers. I personally am a big fan of Zyhir Hope, so I think this is a perfectly fine trade if you are a believer.
On the other hand, a lot of people are saying that the Red Sox got fleeced for their trade of Adley Rutschman. The Red Sox had to give up three of their top six prospects, Anthony Eyanson (#2), Kyson Witherspoon (#4), and Enddy Azocar (#6) to get this trade done. While I personally am not a huge believer in Adley Rutschman and think he is overrated from a fantasy perspective, I do think there's some real-life value to having an everyday catcher plugged into your lineup that grades well defensively. Adley is currently on the IL with a wrist injury and those can tend to sap power, so I'll be curious to see how he performs when he comes back.
Other notable starters that got moved at the deadline include: Freddy Peralta (staff No. 127) to the Tampa Bay Rays and Kevin Gausman (staff No. 151) to the Chicago Cubs.
