It's the offensive version of streaming pitchers, and in daily-lineup leagues it's one of the cheapest sources of counting stats on the wire.
Each hitter-day gets a Bat Score: expected runs above a replacement-level (~.290 wOBA) bat, built from his plate-appearance opportunity (batting slot and start rate from the team's actual posted lineups), his rest-of-season baseline, the ballpark, the opposing starter plus bullpen, and his platoon split against that day's pitching hand. Injured-list hitters are excluded automatically.
A Bat Score of ~50 is a league-average hitter-day. 90+ is tier S, 72+ tier A, 58+ tier B, and 45+ tier C — below that you're better off waiting for a different matchup. Because the score is opportunity-aware, a bench bat can't sneak into the top tiers on rates alone.
