A startup is the first draft of a brand-new dynasty league: every veteran and rookie is available at once, usually 25 to 30 rounds deep. Unlike a redraft board, startup rankings price multi-year value: age, contract situation, and long-term role all count.
The classic split is win-now versus youth-build. Contenders buy proven veterans at a discount from managers chasing youth; rebuilders trade back for rookie picks and target players under 25. Either way, draft off a format-correct board, because superflex startup boards differ radically from 1QB.
Most startups include the upcoming rookie class or draft future rookie picks directly. Check the rookie class on the dynasty rookie rankings, and practice the whole thing in the free startup mock draft simulator.
