JD on Gavin Williams (Aug 3, 2026): Glad my Gavin Williams take lasted all of 1 start, because he just absolutely dominated the Diamondback with 5 perfect innings to start the game off before mother nature humbled Gavin in the 6th inning. Despite the torrential downpour in the 6th derailing what otherwise looked like his most impressive performance of the season, I think Gavin has proven that his stuff is elite enough to overcome some of the command warts. I moved him up to SP10 and struggle to find a reason the pitchers behind him would be more valuable. The wheels might come off or at least get wobbly at some point, but you can be confident investing in him as a low end #1 and if you can get him for the price of a solid #2 SP I would jump all over it.
JD on Roman Anthony (Jun 29, 2026): Not to be a gray cloud that rains on everyone's parade, but I think this is a lost season for Roman Anthony, and I'm worried about what this means for his future development. The Red Sox honestly feel like a ship without a sail right now and I think some of that young talent that exists in that organization might get wasted while they try to figure things out. Roman Anthony might be a good enough talent to overcome this chaos but I have to handicap the odds that he flounders in this environment by moving him down in the rankings. It's a shame that team dynamics can have a large effect on a player's career outcome and they can't just realize their potential upside in a vacuum.
