Dynasty: Chase Burns. Redraft: Logan Gilbert. The FanRanked staff dynasty board has Burns ahead, Burns #26 and Gilbert #38, and the expert consensus agrees (#24 and #43). The community rates them even, FRV 70.3 and 72.1. For 2026 redraft, the consensus has Gilbert ahead, #50 to #61.
JD on Chase Burns (May 27, 2026): This is an example of someone who I haven't fully bought into this stuff yet even though his metrics are obviously off the charts. As a side note think about how crazy it is that Chase Burns averages 98 mph on his fastball and that's still two full ticks below Misiorowski's fastball average. The stuff is obviously incredible but when there's another young pitcher out there eclipsing him by two full miles per hour, he's going to have to take a backseat to him for the time being. The command is average but the stuff is exceptional and you can bet on exceptional stuff all day. The only other knock on him is that pitching at Cincinnati might lead to a little bit tougher of an offensive environment than you typically see for a player's home ballpark but not something I'm willing to adjust the rankings for.
JD on Logan Gilbert (May 27, 2026): This is the start of another tier of pitcher for me, I think the theme of this tier is there is either something missing in the profile that doesn't make these arms a premium option or I need to see more of the early flashes on a consistent basis to fully buy in. Gilbert is easily in the first tier for me as I think he is one of the most reliable arms you'll find in the big leagues right now. Feels like he gets bitten by the HR a little bit too much which is why his ERA is in the 3.5 to 4 range consistently rather than in the 3 to 3.5 range and it's hard to expect a pitcher with a 4 ERA to serve as a number one unless you are in a 12-team or more league.
