JD on Manny Machado (May 27, 2026): I'm less concerned with Manny Machado for this year than Fernando Tatis Jr. but we have to face the reality that he's about to be 34 years old, playing in his 15th season, and is bound to run into Father Time at some point. I bet he goes on a heater or two at some point during the year and brings his average up to the .240-.250 range. If you were to trade for him now, that means you are getting the benefit of pretty good offensive production for the remainder of the year since he seems to have front-loaded all of his poor performance. If you're in win-now mode, he's actually a pretty good piece to go out and trade for, betting on mean reversion. I don't want you to get stuck holding the bag in the offseason so I would look at him as a rental and try to move him once the season is over.
