JD on Roman Anthony (Jun 29, 2026): Not to be a gray cloud that rains on everyone's parade, but I think this is a lost season for Roman Anthony, and I'm worried about what this means for his future development. The Red Sox honestly feel like a ship without a sail right now and I think some of that young talent that exists in that organization might get wasted while they try to figure things out. Roman Anthony might be a good enough talent to overcome this chaos but I have to handicap the odds that he flounders in this environment by moving him down in the rankings. It's a shame that team dynamics can have a large effect on a player's career outcome and they can't just realize their potential upside in a vacuum.
JD on Shea Langeliers (May 27, 2026): I think I am most impressed by Shea Langeliers expected batting average of .292. I always expected him to be a high-power, low-average guy but when he's able to also hit at a close to a .300 level, he becomes so much more valuable to me. Ben Rice is still my number one overall catcher but may not have eligibility next year. I think Langeliers is easily Cq over Cal Raleigh, because I think we saw a 99.9 percentile outcome from him. I wouldn't expect anything close to his peak for the rest of his career, while Langeliers production feels sustainable (at least while they are in Sacramento).
