JD on Bryce Rainer (Jul 3, 2026): I am a big fan of Rainer and am very bullish on him long term. Here is the 11th overall pick out of Harvard Westlake in 2024 and has battled the injury bug until this year. He has put together an up-and-down performance this year with some really weird stats. The good: 15.4% BB rate 122 wRC+ .383 wOBA The bad: .408 BABIP .306 xwOBA (.77 off his actual wOBA) The ugly: 35.2% K rate So I'm not really sure what to think from here. On one hand I think he's got a pretty incredible hit tool but on the other hand it doesn't seem to be playing at the High-A level (or at least he's gotten incredibly lucky to have decent surface stats while having poor underlying numbers). I don't want to move off my aggressive ranking of him just yet but if the underlying numbers don't improve, I don't think he will be the premium prospect I once thought he was.
