JD on Bryce Harper (Jun 17, 2026): I have a hot take, I think Bryce Harper is criminally underrated. He had all the expectations in the world levied on him as a sixteen-year-old in a sport where star players cannot make the same impact as they can in a sport like basketball. Lebron James lived up to the expectations because he was able to single-handedly carry his teams and win championships. Baseball is not a sport where you can be dependent on a single player's performance so long-term exceptional performance can be overlooked if it doesn't result in accolades every year. All this is to say is that Brice Harper has had an incredible career and really shows no signs of slowing down into his mid-30s. He still has a > .400 xwOBA and a WRC+ of 144. I have him at 60 here just because of how old he is but he is a pretty good player to have for the next three to five years because I don't see performance dropping off too much.
